100 Christmas’ past

Gladys Schnetzer celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday, Dec. 13, which means she will be celebrating her 101st Christmas in just a few days.

As we sat down to talk about Christmas’ past, Schnetzer could hardly believe it herself - that so many have flown by. But even though she can’t remember all 100 Christmas’, there are a few of them, and their traditions, that she is likely to never forget.

As a kid, Schnetzer always enjoyed Christmas carols.

“They were all my favorite,” she quickly pointed out, noting that there were just too many good ones to pick from.

But she tells a different story today. Now that she’s listened to them year after year, and decade after decade, she has a stand-out winner.

“Silent Night is my absolute favorite,” she said with a big smile, adding that she particularly enjoyed any of the traditional religious ones.
